Biography

Raymund serves as Performing Arts Department Chair and Director of Choral Studies at Linn-Benton Community College. At Linn-Benton, he conducts the highly acclaimed Chamber Choir and Concert Choir. In addition, he has taught general ed music courses such as theory and music appreciation. He recently received the college’s Mario and Alma Pastega Excellence in Teaching Award.

During his tenure, the Chamber Choir at Linn-Benton has received Gold Awards from competitions in Germany and Hong Kong. Raymund also received an “Outstanding Teacher Award” from the World Youth and Children’s Choral Artists Association. The Linn-Benton Chamber Choir recently received an invitation to sing at the Northwest ACDA Conference. 

Previously, Raymund served as the Bonita L. Bass Memorial Assistant Conductor for the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay. He prepared the Master Chorale for performances of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms, Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe, An Evening with Rodgers and Hammerstein, Faure's Requiem and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.  

Raymund Ocampo founded and served as artistic director of 'ascend', a paid 8-member vocal ensemble dedicated to performing new works. As Director of Music at Mt. Washington Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati, OH, Raymund Ocampo led the adult, youth, and children's choirs. Prior to his work at Mt. Washington, Raymund Ocampo led public school choral programs in Ohio and Indiana.

In June of 2014, Raymund Ocampo was one of three conductors selected to participate in Chorus America's Conducting Masterclass, directing the Singing Sergeants of the US Air Force under the guidance of Dr. Anton Armstrong and John Alexander. During the summer of 2012, he was one of eight conductors chosen to participate in Seraphic Fire's Professional Choral Institute-Conducting Program under the guidance of Dr. James Bass and Patrick Dupré Quigley. 

Ocampo is a sought after clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor. He has worked with choirs, a cappella groups, and undergraduate conductors across the country. 

Raymund Ocampo received a Master of Music in Choral Conducting at the University of South Florida under the guidance of Dr. James Bass. He received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN where he studied with Dr. René Clausen and Dr. Paul Nesheim.
